Is it possible to connect to a Cloud based SQL Database?

Our IT have recently moved the Database to a Cloud based solution and I can no longer access it. They have said the Cloud based solution is not compatible with Flyspeed querying

Is this due to limitations with Flyspeed or should it be able to access?
