Accessing database

I am trying to connect to an MS SQL server database.  When I click "connection" it comes up with the list of tables in the database but has an Exception screen pop up with error message: "Property value is invalid.  Make sure the value is typed correctly."  If I click on any of the tables in the database, no data shows up in the query builder.  Could you please advise what I need to do.
